Group therapy

I run a group that meets on Monday evenings in Totnes, South Devon from 6pm - 8pm. This is a small and intimate group with a maximum number of 8 people.  There are 3 terms a year and each term usually runs for 12 weeks, alongside the school calendar.  Sessions are 2 hrs and cost £35.

Group therapy is a process of reflecting on one’s life with the support of others who are interested in doing the same.  Groups are an exciting, challenging and powerful vehicle for understanding how you relate to others and how others relate to you. In a group you learn about your interpersonal style, patterns of behaviour, blind spots and hard spots. Groups are a great opportunity to experiment with new ways of being which you can then transfer to your life outside the group.  Participants get to practice, in real time, in a safe space, alternative ways of relating to others.

There are many benefits to group therapy -

  • less expensive than individual therapy

  • develop deep and meaningful relationships

  • learn from others' experiences

  • give and receive support and feedback

  • learn how to communicate more effectively

  • understand how your personality operates

  • experiment with new ways of being

  • shared experience gives comfort, solidarity and validation

  • enhances interpersonal relationships

  • improves overall mental well-being

  • groups are creative, stimulating and fun!

I am a qualified group therapist and will be facilitating each session. I provide a safe space within which we can support one another while at the same time daring to look into the uncomfortable parts of ourselves.

I know groups can feel intimidating but I also know from experience what a rewarding and rich experience they can be.  If you are interested in joining this group, please get in touch. We can start with an informal chat to find out if this group is right for you.
